The picturesque village of Jizerka is the highest settlement in the Jizera Mountains. It is located near the border of the Czech Republic with Poland. It is often referred to as one of the coldest places in the country and the measured temperatures drop deep to minus. Equally often, however, it is referred to as a picturesque settlement with cottages scattered in a valley below the basalt hill Bukovec.
